Dershowitz: ‘Needs To Be’ an FBI or IG Investigation Into Rosenstein Reports

On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz called for an investigation by either the FBI or the inspector general into the reports that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein discussed invoking the 25th Amendment and recording the president. Dershowitz said, “There needs to be an FBI investigation or an investigation by the inspector general. Let’s call witnesses, the people who were in the room with him. Let’s find out what his tone was. Let’s find out if there were any memos. You know, he’s not categorically denied it. He just said, I never followed up on it. I never implemented it.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Goodlatte on Rosenstein: I Wouldn’t Resign Based on NYT’s Reporting, If It’s True, He Should Resign

On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Cavuto Live,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) stated that if he was Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, he wouldn’t resign based on reporting in the New York Times, but if the reports are true, Rosenstein should quit and his firing would be justified. Goodlatte said, “I would not step down based upon a report in the New York Times. I think that they are serious allegations, but they’re also somewhat bizarre allegations. And I think the best way to resolve this is to produce the documents that the Judiciary Committee and others in the Congress have been requesting, most specifically, the McCabe memos.” Goodlatte added that if the allegations are true, “Mr. Rosenstein would be well advised to step aside, and the president and the attorney general would be well within their rights to terminate his employment.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett

Women Defend Brett Kavanaugh to CNN — ‘She’s Also Destroying His Life’

CNN interviewed a group of Republican women who vociferously defended Supreme Court associate justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh during Thursday’s broadcast of “Anderson Cooper 360” Thursday night. “Show of hands. How many of you believe Judge Kavanaugh when he says this didn’t happen?” CNN reporter Randi Kaye asked a group of women. All of the women answered that they believed him. “Because one woman made an allegation–sorry, I don’t buy it,” a woman named Lourdes Castillo de la Pena said in part. “In the grand scheme of things, my goodness, there was no intercourse. There was maybe a touch. Can we–really? 36 years later? She’s still stuck on that? Had it happened,” Irina Villarino said. “I mean, we’re talking about a 15-year-old girl, which I respect. You know, I’m a woman. I respect. And we’re talking about a 17-year-old boy, in high school, with testosterone running high. Tell me what boy hasn’t done this in high school. Please, I would like to know,” Gina Sosa said. “Why would she come forward if this wasn’t true? Because it has basically destroyed her family. She’s had to move. She’s gone undercover. She’s gotten death threats. So if she’s lying, why come forward?” CNN’s Kaye
